Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Asphalt Plant Operator to operate a fixed Ammann asphalt plant. This position is responsible for producing consistent, high-quality asphalt while maintaining safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant plant operations.

The ideal candidate has experience with fixed asphalt plants, understands batching operations, and can manage production demands while coordinating with quality control and paving crews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor a fixed Ammann plant using PLC/HMI controls
  • Produce asphalt mixes in accordance with approved mix designs and job specifications
  • Monitor and adjust burner settings, aggregate feed rates, asphalt cement flow, RAP percentages, and batch timing
  • Coordinate with QC personnel to ensure mix consistency and compliance
  • Communicate with trucking and paving crews to maintain steady production flow
  • Perform daily plant inspections and routine preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues
  • Maintain accurate production, temperature, and tonnage records
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient plant site
Skills/Experience Needed:

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience operating a fixed asphalt plant
  • Prior experience with Ammann plants strongly preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of batch plant operations, mix designs, and asphalt production
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and make operational decisions
  • Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends during peak season
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Experience

  • High-percentage RAP batching experience
  • Familiarity with baghouse systems and emissions controls
  • Preventative maintenance and plant repair experience
  • MSHA and/or OSHA training
