Recruitment

Employee Benefits:

  • Complete enrollment process for participating benefits in cooperation and coordination with the Chief Financial Officer

The Waterworks is currently seeking a qualified, professional Commercial Plumber Manager to provide the day-to-day leadership and technical expertise needed to maximize the operational performance and efficiency of the Commercial Plumbing Division. The Commercial Plumbing Manager assumes this position as the "go to" individual for technical and scheduling assistance. This position requires the skill level of a state certified Master Plumber, Master Drain Cleaner or Senior Supervisor. This individual must be recognized as a top-notch Technician, possess skills and technical knowledge beyond reproach, and be able to assume this position with the support and respect of his peers. The Commercial Plumbing Manager will manage the Estimating team to ensure that all estimates are prepared, reviewed and sent to the customer in a timely fashion and that all signed contracts are processed and scheduled as soon as they are received.

The Essential Functions of this position include:

  • Ensuring the safety of all employees by conducting safety training, enforcing safe practices and policies, and overseeing safety inspections and remedies.
  • Overseeing each job foreman to ensure proper tools, parts and permits are pulled appropriately for each job; visiting job sites to inspect the quality of work, the cleanliness of completed jobs and ensuring that all parts and equipment are restocked.
  • Providing direction and technical advice to Technicians; coaching and developing the knowledge of the staff. Must be available to provide assistance by phone (or onsite as needed) when a Technician cannot resolve a situation themselves. Responds to emergency calls at various hours.

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must be:

  • Able to interpret blueprints and create material take-offs for successful installation of plumbing based on written, isometric, and shop sketches per Ohio code.
  • Possess customer service skills which project confidence, knowledge and credibility.
  • Able to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in-writing with customers, managers, Estimators and Dispatcher.

This position evaluates both commercial and residential customer requests for plumbing installation, repair and/or renovation and provides an on-site estimate to perform the work requested. Scope of work estimated will be beyond that of a normal residential service call. Many bids may exceed multiple weeks in duration and may range considerably in cost.

Essential Functions of Job:

  • Assess labor, material and duration of time to complete plumbing jobs. Provide customers with an on-site contractual bid in accordance with established procedures and targeted gross profit margins. Estimates must be accurate and ensure profitability.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with residential and commercial clientele, which is conducive to bid acceptance.
  • Maintain a high accepted bid average.
  • Coordinate accepted bids with job site supervisor when job is scheduled.
  • Follow-up with customers upon completion of jobs. Review customer satisfaction form with manager.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to secure materials at lowest price point possible.

This position reports directly to the General Manager.

Qualifications, abilities and skills required to be successful in this position include:

  • Prior plumbing estimating experience applicable to the position.
  • Significant hands-on field experience in commercial and residential plumbing repair, remodel and renovation.
  • Plumbing knowledge, experience and skill equivalent to a master plumber level. State license preferred.
  • Current plumbing code knowledge.
  • Customer service skills which project confidence, knowledge and credibility.
  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing blueprints. Able to draw isometric drawings.
  • Strong communication skills. Able to express oneself effectively verbally and through correspondence, as related to the position.
